Meet Robyn Jedkins, founder of The RUBY, a new luxury recovery postnatal retreat.

I’m a mom of three, a business owner, and now the founder of The RUBY. After running my own franchise and supporting my husband’s fitness business, I saw a massive gap in care for mothers after birth—and I decided to do something about it.
What is The RUBY?
The RUBY is Houston’s first private postnatal retreat. It’s a place where moms (and dads) can check in directly after leaving the hospital and receive round-the-clock care, nourishing meals, lactation support, night nurse and emotional support during the most delicate days of motherhood. I started it because after my third baby, I wasn’t ready to leave the hospital. Not from fear, but how peaceful it was! No laundry, cleaning, my sweet screaming toddlers. I wanted to relax a few moments more!
Why do modern moms want private postnatal care and what are some perks they get at The RUBY?
Modern moms are expected to “bounce back” immediately, but in reality, they’re physically and emotionally depleted. The RUBY offers them space to heal with 24/7 baby assistance, breastfeeding support, chef-prepared meals, and luxurious hotel accommodations. You don’t have to host guests, clean bottles, or Google every little thing—just rest and bond with your baby.
Tell us about The RUBY’s staff.
Our team includes licensed mother-baby nurses and IBCLC lactation professionals who’ve supported hundreds of moms. They’re not just trained—they’re warm, nonjudgmental, and genuinely passionate about making sure every mother feels safe, seen, and cared for.
The RUBY is located inside the Omni Hotel—why is this the setting you chose?
The Omni provides the luxury, privacy, and convenience today’s mothers deserve. This hidden gem is tucked away, but also near everything! You’re not in a hospital, but you’re not alone at home either. It’s a soft, quiet landing pad between those two worlds—elegant, peaceful, and fully staffed.
Nutritious gourmet meals are included in the 24/7 postnatal care. What’s your favorite thing on the menu?
For sure the salmon and avocado salad!

You’re supposed to know what you’re doing right away.
Needing help means you’re weak.
Recovery ends after six weeks—it doesn’t.
Three pieces of advice for first-time moms.
Let others take care of you, too.
You don’t have to love every moment to be a good mom.
It’s okay to rest. Actually, it’s necessary.
Favorite and hardest thing about motherhood?
Favorite: The way they really think we are their everything! Some days it’s hard, but they truly just want to be around us!
Hardest: That we are their everything… and one day, we won’t be. I am constantly reminding myself how I was once rocking this tiny baby, and now she barely fits in my lap! So, I am trying to soak it all in before they stop asking us to sit on the floor and play.
If you have an hour to yourself without kids, how are you spending your time?
Oh for sure a massage or a quiet glass of wine! And let’s be real, probably scrolling through pictures of them — ha!
