TidbitsBirthday-2

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KRISTINA!

Today’s Tidbits Birthday Girl is Kristina Haag, founder of local apparel label Cotidié. We’re celebrating with a birthday discount below.

Happy birthday! How are you celebrating?
It has become a little tradition to spend my birthday with friends at the Brenner’s Wine Fest. I’ll be celebrating there the weekend before, and doing dinner with my fiancé and family the night of.

How many candles are you blowing out?
33!

What’s on your birthday wish list?
Zodiac medallion necklace from Ring Concierge and the baguette cage band from Lindsey Leigh Jewelry. Saw it on their IG story a few months back, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it!

You created Cotidié to bridge the gap between technical performance wear and business attire for stylish women on the go. Before you started Cotidié, what did you do?
I worked as the purchasing manager for an industrial company here in Houston, and before that I was a press officer for a boutique fashion PR firm in London.

You studied at the British School of Fashion – favorite part about living abroad?
Crafting a life that was completely my own in London. If anyone is watching Bravo’s new show Real Girlfriends in Paris, I see so many similarities with my time in London and in the fashion industry. Working my first London Fashion Week show was like something out of a dream!

Favorite fashion trends for fall?
The trouser trend! I’ve been living in our Amelia trousers and they’re perfect for transitioning into fall. I love to pair them with our Chloe top as the perfect silhouette to layer from. You can find me in this look and other styling ideas on our Instagram.

Why are you on a mission to make professional attire that can be stylish and comfortable through Cotidié?
It’s infuriating how men can so easily wear golf pants and Nike polos into the office and no one questions if it’s workwear appropriate! I created Cotidié so women can have the same feel of those garments but with a more polished style. Also, once you’ve experienced your first Houston summer, you just get it!

Tell us about your brand name.
Cotidié means daily or everyday in Latin. It’s the idea that our clothing can be worn every day, no matter what the occasion. Designed with athletic technical fabrics, Cotidié garments are made to move with you, wherever you go. They’re the pieces you’ll reach for over and over for work, for travel, for weekends and for everything in between.

Three of your best girl boss qualities.
Confident, organized and humble.

Your bestselling items (discount below)?
Our Gabrielle dressAda, pictured below, and Adeline shirts (basically anything with a pleated back).
You never leave home without?
Giving my Aussies, Poppy and Sadie, a goodbye belly rub.

Your go-to workday shoe.
A crisp white sneaker.

First thing you do when you wake up, last thing at night?
Wakeup: Solve the Wordle. Nighttime: Catch up on Bravo!

Best part about being a young professional in Houston.
You can’t beat our quality of life here, and don’t get me started on the fantastic food scene. More than anything, Houston is an incredibly supportive community for new businesses and entrepreneurs. I feel very fortunate to have been able to connect with other business owners through Cotidié.

People would be surprised to learn this about you…
I am a fitness fanatic! I’m currently obsessed with AKT in West U. The Cardio Dance class is classic, but their Bands class is like no workout I’ve ever done before! You use a resistance band hanging from the ceiling and the movements make you feel like you’re flying.

Neighborhood you call home.
Boulevard Oaks. I’m biased, but I think our majestic oak tree lined streets make it the most beautiful neighborhood in Houston.

Three local businesses you love supporting?
Paulie’s for lunch and dinner and especially their super cute shortbread cookies in seasonal shapes. I’m always excited for their Christmas cookie designs. Blackhole Coffee, my favorite neighborhood spot. Beautique Salon in Rice Village — I need to shout out Rubina Manzoor who has been threading my brows there since I was 19 years old (I’ll let you do the math)!

Three apps you can’t live without in your job.
Shopify, Slack and Asana.

Podcasts you’re addicted to?
I subscribe to a lot of podcasts! I listen to The Skinny Confidential and The Toast religiously… and right now I’m really loving the Girls Next Level and The Official House of the Dragon pod (I’m a huge GOT nerd!).

First job ever.
Hostess at Uni Sushi in the Woodlands when I was 16. They’re actually still in the same location at Market Street!

What is your sign and do you identify with it?
I’m a Libra. I don’t really believe in horoscopes, but I do think I fit the Libra description to a T (diplomatic, fair, social…)! So maybe I really do believe in horoscopes?

To celebrate, Kristina is giving Tidbits readers 15% off with code BIRTHDAYGIRL15.
