HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KRISTI!

Today’s Tidbits Birthday Girl is Kristi Miller, owner of LadyBird & Grace Boutique. Each month we celebrate a local entrepreneur on her special day.

Happy birthday! How are you celebrating this year?
Thank you! Hopefully I will be able to fit in some pamper time, but will be going out to dinner with my husband, Lasater, and daughter, Riley, to get some Tex-Mex.

How many candles are you blowing out?
44!

What’s on your birthday wish list?
I would really love an Amazon Kindle, jewelry or some leopard loafers from Golden Goose.

You own LadyBird & Grace, a women’s clothing boutique touting timeless elegance meets modern style. What’s your personal style?
If you know me, you know I definitely love a matching set. I love a good set because they are so easy, but you look put together…but I also love a great pair of jeans and a classic white shirt, and good accessories.

Before you opened LadyBird & Grace, what did you do professionally?
I worked for more than 16 years in residential and commercial interior design. I practiced several years as a designer, but then moved into architectural sales for the majority of my career. I worked with large firms, construction companies, and real estate groups on a lot of medical, law offices and oil & gas companies’ new builds and renovations.

Tell us about the name LadyBird & Grace?
LadyBird and Grace has a joint meaning…LadyBird is after our Bull Terrier, LadyBird, or Birdie for short, which adds charm and personality. Grace is my grandmother’s name and my daughter’s middle name, and reflects elegance and legacy.

Favorite fashion trends for spring?
I love done-right florals, as well as matching sets and statement jewelry. Adding a fun handbag with a pop of color or pattern is always eye-catching as well!

Your bestselling labels?
Definitely my denim! Agolde and AMO are both great denim brands, with a lot of great styles each season. I have a lot of Nation, Faherty, The Great and Sanctuary sold as well.

One item to splurge on right now?
I would splurge on a nice summer dress that you are able to wear on several occasions.

Finish this sentence. A good outfit can make you feel _______.
Unstoppable.

First thing you do when you wake up, last thing at night?
When I wake up, it is usually opening my eyes to my daughter and dogs running into the bedroom! Last thing, sad but true, watching Netflix or some series or show with Lasater.

People would be surprised to learn this about you…
I am an equestrian. I started riding when I was 6, and show jumping when I was 8. It is a true passion of mine and I love everything about the sport. It is a really special bond between horse and rider.

Why is your location a good fit for your boutique?
LadyBird & Grace is a great location because it is in Memorial West. We need clothing options for all types of women, plus you can actually look and feel the items and try them on. I want my shop to be a comfortable and welcoming place for everyone.

Three local businesses you love supporting.
Beauty BarkBeauty N Attitude and Artisan & Vine.

Your daily caffeine ritual.
I am a very loyal Dr Pepper fan.

Three apps you can’t live without in my job.
I would say Shopify, Canva, and Temply.

New book you can’t wait to devour.
I am really looking forward to The Academy by Elin Hilderbrand, which comes out in September. I love all her books!

Podcasts you’re addicted to.
I love anything true crime, including podcasts – My Favorite Murder, Sword and Scale, Something Was Wrong.

First job ever.
My first job was working at the Waco Richland Mall at Spencer Gifts – does anyone remember that place?! Is it still around?!

What is your sign and do you identify with it?
I am a Taurus and definitely identify with the sign. I am stubborn, value honesty and truth above anything, hard-working and love to indulge. It is pretty accurate!
