FASHION PLATES

If the chew fits. Trend-setting restaurants worth stepping out to this month.

 Clockwise from top left:
Elro | Midtown-Montrose
Chef Terrence Gallivan of legendary Pass & Provisions is back with Elro, offering perfect pizzas and a concise menu of oysters, smoked kambachi, tuna on toast and other shared plates in a high-design, neighborhood vibe and a pretty patio accented with banana leaf furnishings.

Balboa Surf Club | Uptown
The upscale seafood restaurant has plenty of wow factors, thanks to Michael Hsu Office of Architecture. Delight in menu temptations like sushi, oysters and fresh cuts, some with playful Southern twists, or the expense account-worthy Post Oak Ribeye. Perch at the central bar to properly survey the glittering scene.

Love Croissants | Midtown
Order online to guarantee your goodies before they’re gone. Pastry chef Omar Pereney has opened a pick-up spot inside Weights + Measures. You’ll fall for classic croissants, mini croissants, “crolaches” and “croffins,” along with rotating specials such as turkey and goat cheese croissants or blueberry lemon tarts, all perfectly prepared and worth the hype.

I Know The Owner | Heights
Marked by a funky flamingo mural and pink IKTO sign, the Heights cocktail bar is Instagram-ready with dripping florals, citrus wallpaper and expert cocktails, many pretty and pastel. Consider an Espresso Tiny-tini — because some nights the whole drink is too much — and cleverly-named frozen cocktails from the team behind Fat Bao and Izakaya Ten.
