Toast of the Town

Cheers to the last libation of 2009.

We look forward to the night where wearing a tiara and guzzling champagne are requirements all year long.

The Far East
1 oz Saffron Syrup (simple syrup infused with saffron)
2 oz gin
6 allspice (whole, not ground)
3 mint leaves
2 oz English cucumber
2 oz club soda
2 oz ice cubes

Muddle the cucumber, mint and allspice to allow flavors to open up. Add the saffron syrup, gin and ice to muddled cucumber. Shake vigorously and strain into a martini glass. Top with cold club soda and serve immediately.
