Aquila Mendez-Valdez, the local style setter behind Haute in Texas, is co-hosting our Galentine's Party at Kendra Scott Quarry Village Thurs, Feb 13. You're invited to indulge in mini manicures while sipping champagne with Aquila and the San Antonio Tidbits editors. RSVP below for sips and sweets—but, first, get to know Aquila.

Best thing about using Instagram for Haute in Texas?
Instagram and blogging is honestly how I met some of my best friends in San Antonio! As a mom and entrepreneur, it has been SO vital to have that tribe that I know has my back!

3 words to describe your style.
Fuss-free, fun and transitional.

Best place in town for an Instagram post?
The light at Ocho is the BEST.

For a girls night out, you usually suggest...
I'm a homebody, believe it or not, so I'd almost rather have a girls night at my house, drinking wine, letting the kids play upstairs, and hanging out in PJs! If I'm going out, I love Tre Trattoria for the best Italian in town, Toro Kitchen + Bar for Spanish tapas and dancing, and Yummi Sushi for their Boerne Roll.

Favorite Kendra Scott piece from the new Hearts Collection we're toasting at the Galentine's Party you're co-hosting with us?
I love dainty layering pieces, and this necklace feels like a more modern take on traditional heart jewelry.

Podcasts or TV series you're addicted to? I just finished binging Four Weddings and a Funeral on Hulu, LOVED it, and The Moth is my go-to podcast

Most underrated thing about San Antonio?
I'm from a super small town, so I think people don't give San Antonio enough credit for being a great place to have a fantastic quality of life AND plenty of city life amenities. I also love how much diversity we have, which was again very important to me when choosing where to raise our daughters.

What's something our readers would be surprised to learn about you?
When I was growing up I wanted to be the next Christiane Amanpour, so getting to interview strong women for my blog (including Kendra Scott herself last year!) is a very small way for me to live out my journalist dreams.

The three emojis you most recently used.
LOL face, two pink hearts, and the red heart. Lots of laughing and love in my life!
