Your Kids Need This Book

Play These Games has 101 ideas for tech-free fun.

When you were a kid you road your bike with no hands (and no shoes) and made your own toys from stuff around the house (really).

Teach your kids how to choose their own adventure with help from our new favorite book: Play These Games. Filled with activities you can MacGyver together with everyday items from your junk drawer, this is page after page of old-school entertainment at its finest. To wit: the Mini-Marshmallow Popper. It takes less than 5 minutes to make and is sure to keep the kids busy for an afternoon.

Because there's no app for 80s-style fun.

Materials
Paper cup
Utility knife (for big hands only)
Scissors
Balloon
Rubber band
Mini marshmallows

1. Use the utility knife to cut the bottom out of the cup.
2. Without blowing up the balloon, tie a knot in the end, then snip off the top ½ inch.
3. Stretch the balloon over the bottom of the cup so that the knot is in the center of the hole, then secure it with a rubber band around the cup.
4. Load a marshmallow and fire away!
