Happy Birthday, Nina Rand!

Today's Birthday Girl is Nina Rand, partner of Bespoke: Strategic Branding & Communications. Each month we celebrate a local business owner on her special day.

Happy Birthday! How many candles are you blowing out this year?

How are you celebrating your birthday this year?
A day off of work and little shopping + a celebratory lunch at Turner’s with my husband.

What's on your birthday wish list?
A pair of fun Golden Goose sneakers (my first pair, actually!).

Best spot in Houston for celebratory cocktails?
Le Colonial.

You recently launched Bespoke Marketing Agency. Tell us about why you started your business and who your clients are?
Yes! My business partner, Candace Thomas, and I started Bespoke because we are incredibly motivated to help small-to-mid sized businesses grow to the next level. We work with several medical aesthetic practices from Michigan (where I lived before Houston) and are fortunate to have several amazing Houston-based clients like Jollie, Tres Market and Motiv Fitness West U and Tanglewood.

What was your background before Bespoke?
After getting my MBA at the University of Notre Dame, I worked for an oil and gas marketing agency here in Houston. Then started my own agency while we lived in Michigan to help small businesses grow their social media presence and was lucky enough to grow that business and bring it with me when we moved back to Houston last year.

You founded Bespoke with your friend (and fellow Tidbits Birthday Girl!) Candace Thomas. What’s the best part about working together?
So many things! We motivate and inspire each other to be our best, most creative and thoughtful in our initiatives for clients. We’re also super honest with each other and can always balance each other out when one of us needs it!

Breakfast, lunch and dinner, where are we most likely to find you?
Breakfast – Tiny’s No. 5.
Lunch - Rosie Cannonball.
Dinner - Home! We love to cook and try new recipes.

Your daily uniform?
I live in matching sets or housecoat dresses from Shop BURU.

Always in my work bag?
Hand sanitizer (obviously), my phone (and extra charger) and snacks (some for me, some for my sons). So. Many. Snacks.

Neighborhood you call home?
Braes Heights. There are so many families and kids for our littles to play with, plus we’re SO close to everything we love about Houston!

Three local businesses you love supporting?
I am a regular on the megaformer at Lagree HTX, love all of the beautiful pieces at The Avenue by Lyndsey Zorich and can’t get enough Espacio bracelets!

Three apps you can’t live without?
Planoly. Asana. Canva.

Mantra you live (or work) by?
I repeat at work (a lot) that “It’s more important to be profitable than popular” – keep your big goals in mind and work hard to reach and exceed them!

Favorite room of your house?
My office. It has a combination of new furniture (my first big purchase as a business owner) and furniture that I was gifted from my grandfather’s house when he passed away, I truly treasure it!

First concert ever?
I’m pretty sure it was N*Sync with my sister, floor seats at Comerica Park in Detroit. We felt SO cool!

First job ever?
I worked at The Limited at the mall and was a hostess at Outback Steakhouse.

One thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
I’m very well-versed in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and superheroes and will never turn off an Avengers movie.
