Spring Makeup Tips

Makeup tips to grow on.

With red lipstick on our minds this week, we caught up with local makeup artist Kelsey Zabawa, the PYT whose work (pictured) has been featured in beauty bibles such as Style Me Pretty and French Wedding Style, as well as on the runway at Denver Fashion Week. Check out her tips to applying liquid eyeliner like a pro, a foundation trick for brightening up winter skin and which fun color her pout will be puckering up for this spring...

Valentines Date: Red or Nude Lip?
Red all the way. It is classic, sexy and romantic.

What makes Denver girls beautiful?
Confidence, effortless style and a healthy image.

Favorite drugstore beauty buy?
Mascara. I’m a big fan of cheapie mascaras such as L’Oreal. It dries out too often to spend $30 on a tube every time.

Best beauty splurge?
Skincare, such as moisturizers with a good SPF and foundation. My favorite foundation is Luxe by Glo Minerals. It is talc free with broad-spectrum UV protection and specialized moisturizing agents to deliver a flawless, youthful complexion.

What's the trick to liquid eyeliner?
Before applying liquid eyeliner, lightly line your eyes with an eye pencil so you have an outline to follow when applying the liquid.

What three beauty items would we find in your purse?
Revive Hydration Mist by Glo keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day, mint balm for my lips and a bold lip color - great to have if you need to go from day to night look in a pinch.

Go-to cocktail?
Champagne with a splash of St. Germain.

What beauty item should no girl leave home without?
Mascara. I love not wearing makeup on my days off, but I always put on mascara to look more awake and bright eyed.

How does your beauty regimen change during the winter?
I use a heavier moisturizer with an SPF, exfoliate my skin more often, change my foundation color one to two shades lighter and drink a ton of water!

Spring trend you're most excited about?
Bold orange lips.
