A Southerleigh Wind Blows

Meet Southerleigh, the newest addition to the Historic Pearl Brewery.

If Kim and Kanye had eaten here, they would have named their baby South East instead.

That's because Southerleigh, the new restaurant with a Southern sense of the Eastern Texas Gulf Coast, is all the rage. Opening TODAY for dinner (and April 21 for lunch), it's named for the prevailing Gulf breeze, well-known to executive chef Jeff Balfour, who grew up in Galveston. The highly anticipated hotspot is located in the Historic Pearl Brewhouse (which will soon be Hotel Emma) and features industrial interior, open kitchen, and awe-inspiring mural thanks to hometown hero (and Austin based) Joel Mozersky Design (think Austin faves Uchi and La Condesa). The menu, with its modern take on Texas' cross-cultural cuisine, features raw oysters, pretzels with house-made mustard and beer cheese, oxtail pie, and a 15-barrel brew house with up to 21 beers on tap.

Don't worry Kimye, Bruce wants to change his name, too.
