Me Gusta Tus Sparkles

Meet the contemporary artist behind Snake Hawk Press.

The tipsier you get the more you tend to slip into Spanglish.

You're gonna love art by local Cruz Ortiz, whose statement-making designs blend the best of both worlds. From the converted train station he uses as a studio south of downtown, the creative brain behind Snake Hawk Press puts out unique, funky, colorful phrases like "me gusta tus sparkles," "the stars 'r' shinin' brite y tu eres mine tonite" and simply, "tamales." His is such a distinctive voice, he was tapped by Papa John's to create their Spurs-themed pizza box. Designs are available on art prints and colorful tees.

Making you look muy fancy.

Meet Cruz Ortiz at Musica en la Calle, tonight, Friday, November 4, and tomorrow, Saturday, November 5, from 7-11 p.m. at Hotel Havana. He's part of a tight mix of impressive local artists and designers showcased in a strollable market. The event features music by Los Texmaniacs and Blackbird Sing and food and drink specials from Ocho.
