Friday Night Lights

Who said playing the field is a bad thing?

The funny thing about "firsts" is that by definition, they only happen once: your first kiss, first break-up, first job. Lucky for you, First Fridays in Southtown happen, well, every month... just try not to get your first (or third) ticket while looking for parking.

Where Heidi Klum Would Kick It | Beethoven Maennerchor will make you feel like you've stepped out of SA and into Germany - for real. The uber-authentic, lively beer garten boasts one of the oldest German singing societies in Texas - Schnitzel Night happens each Friday.

The Art of the Matter | Blue Star Contemporary Art Center is the perfect place to start (or end, see Bar 1919) your night. Stroll the galleries then grab a house-brewed beer at Blue Star Brewing Company, tableside s'mores at Halcyon, specialty cocktails at Joe Blue's or a slice and pint at Stella Public House, set to open in April.

Brews To Do For a brew list that's so lengthy your eyes will cross before you start drinking, pay a visit to The Friendly Spot Ice House. New to this laid-back joint is a recently extended bar in the back, perfect for your plus ones, pups and people-watching.

Exercise Your Right To Drink | Feel like a jog? The First Friday Pub Run starts and ends at Beethoven's with 10 stops in between. Dress in your Fiesta best for this month's theme - cascarones are encouraged, but medals may be better off at home.

Walk and Gawk | Peruse the vendor booths along South Alamo for jewelry, tchotchkes and art. When you need to refresh, rest your bones and relax with a drink at nearby staples Rosario's, The Monterey (pictured), Feast or Liberty Bar.

Love Southtown? Check out sleek new MBS Spa and snag a relaxing one-hour massage for $39 or a one-hour facial for $44.
