Deep-Fried in the Heart of Texas

Home is where the lard is. Introducing The Homesick Texan Cookbook.

Ice cold Lone Star, fratty guys in F-150s and the gooey goodness we call queso. All things that are strictly Texan, and that you long for when you travel far from home.

Even for a weekend.

After moving to the Big Apple, Lisa Fain quickly realized that while dreams were made there, good Southern cuisine was not. With the launch of her blog Homesick Texan, the foodie became an authority on hard-hitting questions like how to make tamales in a tiny studio kitchen and where to find Ro-Tel in Brooklyn. Proving that the stars are always bright for a Texan, her fame grew into a just-released cookbook packed with recipes for Tex-Mex faves, staples like biscuits and gravy, barbecued ribs and the perfect refried beans.
