Baroque Down Palace

Girl meets chair. Girl loves chair but hates chair's damask-done-wrong material and wobbly leg. Does girl a) Leave chair on side of street or b) Bring chair home to make like new?

While most of our roads are paved with good intentions but no follow through, Mary Dawn Pugh, owner of the newly launched furniture repurpose biz REWINDesign, has the vision and the patience that mere mortal chicks don't. After furnishing her first apartment in NOLA using flea market finds that she whipped into shape, she discovered a knack that's equal parts hobby and talent. Call on her for custom jobs on everything from beds (her own is pictured here) to frames, coffee tables and dressers. As the Junior League of New Orleans Buy, Save and Serve co-chair, she'll be offering a 10% discount on her services during the event.

Beauty is in the eye of the hammer holder.

Heads up, shopaholics - the Junior League of New Orleans is hosting their annual Buy, Save and Serve shopping event November 2-11. Make a $35 donation to the JLNO and snag a shopping card to save 20% at over 150 participating retailers, including REWINDesign. Card holders are also invited to attend the hip kick-off party on Saturday, November 3, at Lakeside Mall.
