14 Things You Didn't Know About River Oaks District

Brand new River Oaks District is set to change the city's shopping landscape. Here, 14 things you didn't about the walkable luxury shopping and dining center.

1. There is a secret private shopping salon on the top level of Dior for loyal shoppers.
2. The landscaping alone at ROD cost more than six million dollars.
3. A two-story Harry Winston, still under construction, will mark ROD's entrance.
4. The country's third COS will soon open. COS is H&M's higher priced sister store.
5. The center is built with Texas limestone and Italian stone.
6. The luxury apartments above the shops are called Grey House, a nod to the grey artist residences that surround The Menil Collection.
7. The parking garage levels are flat, designed with women wearing heels in mind, and art will soon line the garage's walls. 
8. Two local boutique have been announced: Baanou and St. Nicola.
9. Hermès, moving from nearby Post Oak Blvd., will be a flagship location for the brand.
10. iPic Theaters will open soon, offering movie goers waiter service on upscale cuisine and spirits and fully reclinable seats
11. While construction on restaurants like Taverna, Le Colonial (French-Vietnamese), Dallas-based French bistro Toulouse, Austin-based burger joint Hopdoddy and a fast casual pizza spot continues, ROD will open a pop-up coffee stand.
12. To celebrate the opening, some retailers have released limited-edition pieces, like Chopard's "Happy Texas" watch. 
13. There is free parking and valet. Valet parkers bring your car to you wherever you are in the center, and you'll get a text telling you how long it will take.
14. The center's stop signs are black, not red. Super chic!
