Happy Birthday, Lisa!

This month's birthday girl is Lisa Joubert, owner of Love Dance Houston in Sawyer Yards. We found out how she's celebrating from home.

Love Dance Houston
2206 Edwards St. #B
Happy birthday, Lisa! How are you celebrating in quarantine?
Usually on my birthday I have to be out on a patio like Tiny Boxwoods or a'bouzy, followed by picking up an assortment of goodies to take home from Common Bond. This year I was planning an all girls trip to Fredericksburg, but my quarantine birthday will be spent with Scrabble and Monopoly with my kids, takeout from Steak 48 and a bottle of Moet I have been saving.
You're the owner of Love Dance Houston. How can couples use this time to connect by dancing?
My favorite pick-me-up is when my couples send me messages, videos and DMs how they are practicing their dance! Dancing together (silly or romantic) takes your mind off everything else going on in the world right now and provides a great escape. Just slow dance, hug to music and dip! Instant smiles.
Go-to takeout spots these days?
Hugo's beans and chips is my comfort food go-to, Hearsay burgers for my husband, and Tiny Boxwoods fries and chocolate chip cookies for the kids. For drinks, I mostly stick to Topo Chico, lime and tequila, but I love Common Bond's Frosé Fridays! I have been wanting to try Bovine & Barley's adult drink truck...
Daily quarantine uniform.
Kimono and YSL makeup.
How are you getting exercise indoors?
Salsa dancing with my husband! It's great for our kids to see us having fun and affectionate with each other in our living room. Also jump roping, ballet exercises on the barre, and lunges lunges lunges! I use the foam roller and massage gun now more than ever actually. I love watching @HoustonBallet videos.
Have you picked up any new hobbies?
I feel like I have spent my life savings on butter! I have learned to make the BEST lemon bars and chocolate cake. I am also happy to return to an old hobby, reading guilty pleasures instead of business and management books.
What's on your quarantine playlist?
French lounge music, Latin Dinner Party playlist on Spotify and some old sermons when I am starting to feel anxious.
Neighborhood you call home.
I miss our Sawyer Yards! I can walk to my son's school, take pilates or spin classes on my lunch breaks and am close to all my favorite Heights and Montrose eateries. There are so many wonderful young couples and it is Houston's most artistic zip code!
What's your sign and do you identify with it?
Taurus....no question! I love being pampered and spoiled but know how to roll my sleeves up and work hard. I love teaching other couples how to make their relationship more romantic and am too stubborn to work for anyone else! Connection is super important for me and it is hard for me to be indoors!
Biggest accomplishment during lockdown.
Homeschooling! Teaching adults is WAY easier. Thank you teachers for all you do!
How many candles are you blowing out?
On my birthday gift wish list.
A Golden Doodle puppy!
