Fashion Plates! 4 New Restaurants to Try Right Now

If the chew fits...

THE HEIGHTS // James Beard-award winning Justin Yu and Anvil Bar & Refuge co-owner Bobby Heugel have combined talents and opened Squable in the former Southern Goods space. They've brought in team members who have held positions at BLT, Common Bond, and Julep, to name a few. The elevated interior boasts exposed brick, turquoise booths, and a brass bar. The "European fare with American influences" menu changes based on what's available to locally source seasonally. Try the dutch baby with cheese, citrus and honey, marinated mussels toast, roasted vegetable bolognese and a solid French cheeseburger, but we advise to save room for a glazed donut topped with a cinnamon sugar donut hole. B.B. Italia

ENERGY CORRIDOR // Benjamin Berg (B.B. Lemon and B&B Butchers) has given new life to the former Carmelo's space with a brand new layout and vibe for his latest concept, B.B. Italia, with B.B. Pizza inside. At B.B. Pizza you can find apps like garlic knots and meatballs, salads, subs, calzones and, of course, plenty of NYC-inspired pizza. His childhood roots have helped him shape a classic Italian menu at B.B. Italia, full of delicious homemade pastas such as 20-layer lasagna, spaghetti with clams, and a killer Sunday ragu. Try sauteed crab fingers, minestrone and veal chop parmigiana, or his take on Italian fried chicken to round out your meal. Lunch hours, weekday happy hour and a great patio make it a new family-friendly staple.

MUSEUM DISTRICT // Latin newcomer Tropicales will have you happily confused whether you're lunching in Houston or Tulum. Colorful walls, wicker furniture and indoor greenery create an escape from the city. Grab breakfast tacos, cinnamon panela oatmeal or their take on avo toast on a blue corn tlayuda with everything-seed mix. Return for cubanos, chicken taquitos or coconut milk salmon ceviche on plantain chips. Wash it all down with a guava de olla - iced matcha tea with fluffy guava cream - or classic cocktails with a tropical twist. Oh, and before you ask - yes, there's queso. Photo: @snay_esther

Cielito Cafe

MONTROSE // New Mexican spot Cielito Cafe has taken over the charming bungalow that used to house Just Dinner. The new interior still feels quaint and homey, with a new bright, white makeover and turquoise accents. Open for breakfast and lunch only, the revamped cottage is serving up authentic Mexican fare like chilaquiles, sopes, nopalitos, tacos, and french toast with caramelized goat's milk. Pair your dishes with fresh agua frescas or their signature coconut coffee with coconut oil and coconut cream. Photo: @htxintheloop
