Fashion Plates! 4 New Restaurants to Try Right Now

If the chew fits... Trend-setting restaurants worth stepping out to this month.

Killen's TMX

PEARLAND // The latest hot spot for mex and margs, Killen's TMX is beloved local pitmaster Ronnie Killen's newest venture. The third-generation Texan has a passion for Mexican food, and it shows in scratch-made moles and house-ground corn tortillas. Pecan smoked short ribs with adobe sauce and that famed brisket inside enchiladas and quesadillas show off his smoking skills once again. Scallops and lobster tacos make for lighter options. If you're full, homemade churros (pictured, bottom of page) and tres leches bread pudding go in a different area of the stomach, right?

Truth BBQ

HEIGHTS // Highly-anticipated, Brenham-born Truth BBQ has opened its doors and you'll taste their dedication to 'cue in every bite. With a top ten spot in Texas Monthly's list of best barbecue, you'll wanna try it all. Brisket, ribs and sausage with mac and cheese, corn pudding and tater tot casserole make for an Instagram-worthy tray shot. Don't forget a slice of homemade banana caramel layer cake for dessert, that you'll not not share with the table. Try to skip a post-meal nap? We dare you. Photo: @adamsonbarbecue

Milk + Sugar

MONTROSE // Adorable new ice cream shop Milk + Sugar is housed in an industrial, modern looking space, with charming details of an old-fashioned creamery. When that craving hits, check out their addictive, creamy flavors like banana nut bread with house-made walnut brittle, Thai tea, strawberry almond cheesecake, and earl grey with lavender and lemon. The creative, homemade combinations, from-scratch mix-ins, delicious aroma of brown sugar waffle cones and cozy atmosphere will have you scooping up a sweet tooth fix every chance you get. BELLAIRE // Adair Concepts (Eloise Nichols, Adair Kitchen, Bebidas) has debuted its latest eatery, Betsy's, at Evelyn's Park inside the former home of The Ivy & James. Named after the mother of the sibling owners, the charming house retains its warm, family-friendly feel. Dishes are designed to take anywhere on the grounds easily - try breakfast tacos, salads, burgers, cheese boards and even pizza made with the same dough and sauce the family once used at now-shuttered the Flying Pig. Post up on the patio for dining with a park view. Photo: @brittanycassinrealtor
