Fashion Plates! 4 New Restaurants to Try in June

If the chew fits... trend-setting restaurants worth stepping out to this month.

Ohn Korean Eatery

CHINATOWN // The owner and chef behind Aka Sushi, Mein and Tiger Den has added a new fourth venture to his resume, Ohn Korean Eatery. The dimly lit booths are nestled amidst bright neon signage, creating a private underground vibe reminiscent of street side spots in Seoul. Keep the Soju cocktails flowing alongside pork belly with charred kimchi, stir-fried chile scallion rice cakes, and Seoul inspired brisket served with Korean banchan sides.

The Ivy & James

BELLAIRE // Chef Jamie Zelko of the former Zelko Bistro has opened The Ivy & James, a picturesque lunch spot at the new Evelyn's Park. Choose between dining inside the bright yellow house or take your food al fresco for a picnic under the trees. From breakfast to salads and flatbreads plus grab-n-go snacks like charcuterie, hummus and GoodPops - all menu items can fit in their customizable picnic baskets to take outside with your wine, beer or coffee.

Alice Blue

THE HEIGHTS // Canopy and Woodbar owner Claire Smith has revamped the former Shade space into modern, new Alice Blue. The neighborhood spot features a fresh interior makeover and a brand new menu of contemporary bistro cuisine from Kent Domas, formerly of Down House and Bernadine's. Don't miss the squash fritters, eggplant agnolotti, snapper bouillabaisse and stunning fig tart.

Chapman & Kirby

DOWNTOWN // The first tenant in the new East Village project, Chapman & Kirby is named after the founders of Houston. The hot new hangout feels industrial yet elegant and brings a modern gastro lounge to the area. Whether your plan is to enjoy local beers on tap, craft cocktails and small plates or go big with a private event, the ambiance and decor fit the bill.
