You Can't Sit With Us

In its first time outside of Mexico, Roche Bobois brings "L’Artesanía de Vivir” to Houston.

From the outrageously expensive letterpress stationery you've decided no one is worthy of receiving to your unworn faux fur vest, some things are just too pretty to use.

Stand in awe, but don't sit, when 32 chairs adorned by Mexican artisans will be artfully strewn about the Buffalo Bayou Cistern, pictured. In its first US visit, the Mexico City-born "L’Artesanía de Vivir” exhibition, an initiative of renowned French furniture house Roche Bobois, will be in Houston one day only, Wednesday, Nov 8, from 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. You'll see centuries-old techniques of artistry on the modern chairs - reimagined by hand in places like Oaxaca, Jalisco and Puebla. Resplendent with 221 columns, the cistern was a former drinking water reservoir that's been painstakingly restored by Buffalo Bayou Partnership as a public space.

Signed. Seated. Delivered.
