Five looks in one dress. The designer (pictured, right) and her staffers show off the Nikki.
Nothing makes you gloat like when you spot an A-lister on E! News wearing an outfit you own. Turn to local designer Abi Ferrin, whose line is carried at fashion meccas like The Shak and Elements (and can be spotted on the Dallas cast). With an impressive celeb following, a recent nomination for Vogue's Most Influential list, and the new do-good Freedom Project, the It Girl is seeing stars, just in time for fall.
You are known for the very wearable 5-Way Nikki Dress. How did you come up with the design? The concept began because I hated sewing zippers and I wanted to create a piece that would fit a lot of body types. After my stylist friend Joyce Ho got a hold of the piece, she began to discover new ways to wear it. We finally stopped at five as it became overwhelming to customers!
Who are your celeb clients? Vanessa Williams has been our most consistent - wearing AF five times this past season on Desperate Housewives, as well as steadily on the red carpet, but other fun fans include Heidi Klum and Molly Sims.
Abi Ferrin dresses pair best with what local sip? A Shakedown Highball at The Cedars Social, Lychee Martini at Shinsei or the entire champagne cocktail list at Sissy's Southern Kitchen & Bar.
Who are you dying to dress? Kate Middleton - it is going to happen! I also think Jessica Biel is stunning, and I would love to dress her during such an exciting time in her life.
Your newly designed studio is in the South Side on Lamar. What do you love about the area? The energy of the artists and entrepreneurs who are blossoming in the neighborhood is so inspiring to be around.
I couldn't live without my... Chanel cream compact and Mary Kay lip gloss in my Sak Saum clutch.
