Ask a Stylist: SMU Trendsetter Krystal Schlegel

We got busy blogger and young style icon Krystal Schlegel to slow down long enough to report on the ultimate catwalk: the SMU campus.

We got busy blogger and young style icon Krystal Schlegel to step away from documenting local fashion and being shot for March's Modern Luxury long enough to dish on the ultimate catwalk: the SMU campus.

(She's pictured here in Christian Louboutin heels, and we're giving away a pair.)

Star-studded fashion moment?
Designers are my version of celebrities. I was so nervous and excited to meet Diane Von Furstenberg... She came running over and gave me a huge hug... as if we had been friends forever. I couldn't believe how sweet she was.

Trend you're giddy about for spring?
Bright neon colors are huge. I personally love anything pink

Number one mistake women make?
Wear what you feel confident in. I try not to look into trends too much. When shopping for myself, I buy classic items that fit well.

Your blog The Style Book documents your campus journey (and show-stopping outfits). What's unique about Mustang style?
The great thing is that everyone dresses different.... Classic, funky... At SMU you can get away with wearing anything.

You hosted the opening of Christian Louboutin's boutique when it opened in Highland Park Village. Any shoes you're coveting?
I love anything with a red sole His metallic neons are fun for spring.

Dallas Tidbits is giving away a pair of Christian Louboutins!

Fabulous gift for a guy this Valentines Day?
Hmm, I always find it hard to shop for boys. I got my boyfriend a pair of [local] Hadleigh's slipper shoes for Christmas and I can tell he feels cooler in them.

Ever had a fashion emergency?
The first photo shoot I ever worked on, I broke the steamer. It was a little embarrassing that I didn't know how to use it.

People would be surprised to learn Krystal Schlegel shops at ...
