Goddess of modern interior design Kelly Wearstler has expanded her aesthetic from mansions and boutique hotels to an eponymous ready to wear collection. We sat down with the LA-based icon to find out how the human body inspires her prints, her celeb style crush and what she likes to sip at the end of a stylish day.
Tidbits: What inspired your fall collection?
Kelly: This collection is inspired by Surrealism. The prints have a three dimensional quality and depth to them and the jewelry has a Surrealist take with lips and body parts.
Tidbits: What celebrity would you love to dress?
Kelly: I love Penelope Cruz. She's amazing, sweet, beautiful, chic and just incredible.
Tidbits: Favorite get up and go hairstyle?
Kelly: Down and unbrushed - nothing over-styled. I like raw hair.
Tidbits: What's your favorite piece in the collection?
Kelly: The leather pieces - I wear the leather pants all the time, the easy dresses with the small textured prints, and I love the denim.
Tidbits: Do you have a go-to LBD or are you a color girl?
Kelly: I love black. We have a great tunic style black dress with perforation that I love.
Tidbits: Nail polish you love for fall.
Kelly: I'm into a periwinkle blue.
Tidbits: What was your favorite interior to design?
Kelly: The Avalon Hotel just because it was my first hotel project and I learned so much. Then I'd have to say my home, it's like a lab for me. Having kids, it's about making it a great comfortable family home, but you still want it to be chic and cool.
Tidbits: What cocktail goes best while lounging in one of your hotels?
Kelly: A mojito!
