Six Pistols

Lindsay McCrum explores the world of women and their firearms in her new book, Chicks with Guns.

Some things in life you just can't live without. Venti Starbucks mocha lattes with a twist, Nars blush in Orgasm, peeptoe Louboutins and, of course, your gold .50 cal Desert Eagle with tiger stripes.

Or so discovered internationally acclaimed portrait photographer Lindsay McCrum while researching her latest coffee table book. Exploring the world of firearms in Chicks with Guns, the Yale grad offers up a cultural glimpse via the intimate relationship between gun slinging women and their weapon of choice. From police officers to socialites--the pages feature six North Carolina residents--the women portrayed transcend age and background to defy stereotypes of both guns and gals alike. Look for the gallery-style tome in the October issues of W, Town & Country and The New York Times Style Magazine.

After all, when has a Southern girl done anything half-cocked?
