The Tidbits Summer Color Guide

We've called on hipster Eastside makeup artist Rhea McCarter for summer beauty tips... from locks to lips.

You spent junior high as a Sun-In blonde, then went dark for college angst. Whatever your current hair hue (and mood), we've called on hipster downtown makeup artist Rhea McCarter for summer beauty tips, from locks to lips.

Hate your hair? Read our guide below, then opt into a luxe makeover at The Salon at Saks Fifth Avenue, where you'll score a cut and highlights (or color) for just $100. (Usually $185) LAST DAY TO BUY" />

BLONDES The best eyeshadow tones are golds, earthtones (including deep green) and bronzes. I love Rae Cosmetics' Golden Earth and Sandcastle! For lips, a soft pink or nude and, for nighttime, grays and silver tones are pretty with a bright pink glossy lip.
_Don't::_ Too much black eyeliner, pastel shadows and deep brown lipstick.

BRUNETTES Try purple, pink and gold shadows. Black eyeliner is a must! Turn to MAC's Powerpoint Eyepencil in Engraved and Rae Cosmetics' Onyx Eyeliner. Pair this with a medium pink lip during the day. After hours, add blue tones. And stick to a glossy brownish nude lip.
_Don't:_ Stay away from grays and silvers and a true nude lip.

REDHEADS Warm tones on the eye, like greens, rustic reds and dark browns. For lips, depending on the depth of the hair, light pink or a deep rustic tone, like Lancome's Sienna Lace.
_Don't:_ Avoid too much purple on the eye or "matchy" red lips.

EVERYONE This summer, I'm loving pale pink lipliner matched to an iridescent gloss for a natural, kissable look. Gold, bronzey shadows paired with a thin black eyeliner give your eyes a bright, natural look. Finally, pale pink and matte nails are a sophisticated, low maintenance look!
