The Tidbits Summer Guide

Add a little shimmer to your summer. Here's what's haute in Austin.

1. ROKA // ROKA is ultralight eyewear built for an active lifestyle. Named after the Norwegian city of Oslo, the OSLO sunglasses are as on-trend as the design hub they’re named for. The stylish, round frames and bold, classic look are designed to transition easily from a bike commute to sipping al fresco rosé.

2. Frankly Organic Vodka // For poolside entertaining, consider Austin’s first organic vodka, Frankly Organic Vodka—100% real, organic ingredients from a brand passionate about ingredient transparency. Wow your guests with a White Sangria featuring Frankly Strawberry Lemon Vodka infused with organic strawberries, lemons, turmeric, ginger and cherry bark. Get the delish recipe here!

3. Yappy Hour // Local brands Grocery Pup and Wondercide host Yappy Hours at South Congress Hotel every first Sunday, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. this summer through Oct. Enjoy Juice Society, live music and fun pop-ups from local pup brands while your furry friend chows down on fresh Grocery Pup and is pampered with swag.
4. The Tan Can // Adopt a bikini attitude. The Tan Can’s Bikini Attitude Tanning Lotion got its name when Kristin Armstrong said it gave her a “bikini attitude.” The gradual self tanner lotion has organic ingredients for a natural glow. Try The Quartet, the local brand’s cult-fave products—Body Wash, Body Scrub, Body Butter and Bikini Attitude Tanning Lotion.

5. Laurel Twist & Co. // Cheers to celebrating everything. Consider “Like father, like daughter” Father’s Day cards, cool Austin-centric t-shirts—like the one pictured, or “It’s Always Sunny on Rainey Street” and “I Love Barre So Much”—bachelorette invites and more from local Laurel Twist & Co. The graphic designer has a passion for witty, minimal, authentic designs.

6. Castle Hill Fitness // Austin’s “Gem of a Gym,” locally-owned Castle Hill Fitness is having a 3-month summer membership sale. Join between June 1-Aug. 31 and get access to the gym and classes, plus discounts on spa and training services at both downtown and Westlake locations. Save over $180 (and get 3 massages) when you join VIP Plus!

7. 2ND Street District // Spend your sizzling summer somewhere haute. 2ND Street District, located downtown between San Antonio and Colorado St., offers the best summer hangouts. From al-fresco dining with Instagrammable cocktails to cooling off indoors with a movie or DIY craft and strolling Austin-owned boutiques, they’ve got all the bases covered.

8. Kendra Scott // Meet the showstopper of the season, the Jennifer gold statement earrings in pink mix from Kendra Scott. Part of the new summer collection, they feature tonal shell and acrylic tabs in an abstract petal shape, creating a removable tassel that's easy to clip on and off. The perfect accessory to brighten up any summer style.

9. Hiatus Spa + Retreat Summer Spa Membership // Get a $50 gift card for joining. For $69 a month, Summer H-circle members choose one essential service per month (think zero-gravity mani-pedi, massage, facial, acupuncture, body wrap), plus additional pampering at a discount, 10% off retail, priority booking, and discounts for your guests. Purchase by Aug. 1, 2019; use by Oct. 31, 2019.

10. Desert Door // Tip your hat and raise your glass to Dad by taking him to Texas' only sotol distillery, Desert Door—their Father’s Day event features hat shaping, Salt Lick BBQ and live music from Jason Robert Blum. Or, get a bottle at your fave liquor store and get delish recipes on the website, including a Desert Paloma, to make at home.

11. W Austin // Detox, Retox, Repeat. Get fit poolside at the WET Deck every Sunday this summer at 11 a.m. Workout, then reward yourself with a complimentary cocktail and access to Soundwave, WET Deck’s Sunday pool party. For tickets and cabanas, head here to make a splash.
