Happy Birthday Adair Ilyinsky!

In a new series, Tidbits will celebrate the birthday of a female business owner each month.

August's birthday girl is Adair Ilyinsky, co-founder of tenoverten nail salon located in the South Congress Hotel. The uber-buzzy beauty concept started in Manhattan, and the sleek Austin location is the first outside of New York.
What's your favorite part of your job?
I love working with so many talented, hard-working and inspiring women. The tenoverten team has truly become my extended family. It's also awesome to have the opportunity to explore amazing cities like Austin now that we are expanding outside of Manhattan.
tenoverten is known in part for your all-natural 8-free polish line. We love the shade of blue named "Austin," pictured below, which you've said is a nod to the denim culture of our city. What colors are you excited about for fall?
I'm obsessed with one of our new fall shades called Cliff. It's a rust orange, terracotta color that is helping me to get excited about the ushering in of a new season.
Makeup item you can’t live without?
I can't live without my Olio E Osso balm in French Mellon. It's a lip and cheek balm in the perfect shade of pink that I stash in my purse to use on the go.
What gives you inspiration?
I am inspired by other small businesses and the incredible things that so many entrepreneurs are doing. A cousin of my husband just founded a fashion forward shoe line called Rothy's that's entirely made out of recycled plastic bottles. Another one of our friends is the CEO of STATE Bags, which donates a backpack to a child in need for every purchase made.
Where do you head for credit card cardio in Austin?
My credit card gets a major workout at Outdoor Voices. Their new Tech Sweat line is life-changing.
Any other local shopping vices?
I discovered esby and met its founder Stephanie Beard through the salon. I live for her basics and appreciate that it's all made in America, which is so rare to find these days.
Wardrobe piece you couldn’t live without.
My vintage Levis. I love 501's and 505's both dressed up and down, and the higher the waist the better.
What’s your go to coffee date suggestion?
Café No Sé at the South Congress Hotel is my home away from home when I'm in Austin. I love to have a coffee and work on my computer before the salon opens, and it's fun chatting with other guests staying at the hotel.
How many candles are you blowing out this year?
How are you celebrating your birthday this year?
My husband and I keep a birthday tradition of having champagne and a caviar service at home. It's nice to do something a little bit fancy and he loves to prepare everything just so: the toast points, raw onion and egg white. On my birthday, I most look forward to birthday cards from him which are always so heartfelt and among my most treasured possessions.
