South By South Vest

Shop chain-stitch embroidered denim from Austin label Die Trying TX.

Whether it's the wristband you almost scored or the invite your friend of a friend snagged, there's usually at least six degrees of separation between you and the SXSW talent.

Since we're all strung together in some way or another, why not commemorate the connection with rad jackets and vests from Die Trying TX. The Austin-based line, helmed by Lacy Van Court, offers one-of-a-kind chain-stitch embroidery on patches and vintage denim she thrifts from all over Texas - as well as from the Eastside's own Passport Vintage. With a nod to the traditional Western technique, the designer uses hand-operated antique machines to customize the denim of your dreams. From uber cool and colorful serape skulls on Levi's to pastel dusty diamond patterns on Wranglers, you'll be set to rub elbows.

That is if you can find a common thread.

Meet Lacy at Wrangler's ModCloth collaboration launch THIS Sunday, March 12, from 4 - 8 p.m. Or, see her goods at SXSW Marketplace next Thursday, March 16 – Saturday, March 18, from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. at the Convention Center, Exhibit Hall 4. All badges and open to the public with free SXSW Guest Pass. Bring your own denim and she'll customize each piece.
