Now Open :: Bonhomie

Meet the new French kid on the corner of the AMLI building on Burnet Road.

5350 Burnet Rd.

What do you get when you mix caviar and hash browns? The kind of culinary adventures being dished out at Bonhomie, officially opening today on Burnet Road. We pulled up a stool at the French bistro meets American diner to clink, conversate and catch up on the top 7 things you need to know before hitting the sure-to-be hot spot.

1. Chef Philip Speer, the man behind the inventive dishes - think brisket croissants with Pho jus and one of the best burgers we've ever eaten - is also one of the owners behind newly opened coffee and breakfast trailer My Name is Joe
2. The soulful sip and sup soundtrack piped throughout the restaurant was a collaboration between restaurant partner Sean McCusker and Wilco bassist John Stirratt.
3. The supremely rad handmade aprons on the servers are custom made by Tilit, the NYC brand that was just in Austin to celebrate Indie Chefs Week.
4. French-inspired custom plates tout the restaurant name which means good natured or feeling of friendliness amongst a group of people.
5. A weekend brunch menu will launch next week featuring Speer's divine vertical pancakes.
6. Bites like the pommes rosti, AKA hash browns, along with the sleek red booths and round track lighting, are inspired by the design of a classic Waffle House.
7. Every wine bottle on the list has a by-the-glass option. Sommelier Darrin Ylisto moved to the ATX from NOLA to sling the same award-winning Sazerac served at Sylvain.
