Not Your Garden Variety

Location

Fest-of-Ale at the Atlanta Botanical Garden
Remember that time you and your girlfriends headed to the botanical garden to marvel over the hardy palms and discuss the life cycles of annuals and perennials?

Yeah, neither do we.

The Atlanta Botanical Garden in Piedmont Park is your go-to for receptions, but for the remaining Thursday nights in October, the plant-lover's paradise also hosts Fest-of-Ale, a chance to wander through the perfectly lit gardens, stopping occasionally to try a new pumpkin ale or earthy glass of chardonnay. There’s live music in the Levy Parterre and locally handcrafted scarecrows (pictured, another is sprawled on a lawnchair with a copy of "Fifty Shades of Hay") throughout the grounds, far more suited for a gallery than a cornfield.

Give it a couple drinks, and your inner botanist will emerge with new insights on the birds and the bees.
